HISTORY

Sharing the same name as the tug Berry Patch off Hillsboro Inlet, a 120-foot long freighter also called Berry Patch was sunk on October 1, 1988, off Pacific Reef south of Miami. The Berry Patch, reportedly the former coastal freighter St. Joseph built at Newcastlein 1944, was scuttled in 150 feet of water on the same day as the vessel Hugo’s April Pool, which was sunk approximately 600 feet to the south. Additionally, the larger Doc DeMilly can befound resting between these two wrecks.
