HISTORY
The Santa Rita was an approximately 200-foot long freighter scuttled in 245 feet of water approximately one mile offshore of the Almirante to serve asan artificial reef on July 16, 1976. The Santa Rita had been a derelict on the Miami River for several years until money donated by Auto Marine Salvage owner Palto Cox allowed the vessel to be stripped and deployed off Elliott Key.
