HISTORY

  • Launched: 1968, vy American Marine Corporation of New Orleans for L & M BoTruc Rental inc.  It was a supply vessel.

  • sold to Veronica M., Incorporated

  • 1989: Sold to Premium Alaska Fishing Corporation and modified it as fish-carrying freighter

  • 1997: Sold to Caribbean Exploration Shipping, Limited for use on their inter‐island freight routes

  • January 2001, US. Customs Service agents discovered 614 pounds of cocaine hidden in a false compartment beneath the Tacoma’s fuel tank adjacent to the cargo hold.

Divesite:

The former offshore supply vessel was sunk on October 18, 2001, joining the Brandy Wine, Etoile De Mer, and Miguana at US.Customs Reef off Key Biscayne. The Tacoma rests upright and intact in approximately 130 feet of water, with the top of the bridge rising to within 80 feet of the surface. The wreck of the Etoile De Mer rests approximately 500 feet to the southeast of the Tacoma.
