HISTORY

On June 29, 1990, the 65-foot long tug Patricia was scuttled as an artificial reef off Miami. Resting in just over 50 feet of water, the tug is part of the ” MiamiWreck Trek,” which also consists of the shrimper Miss Karline, which can be found approximately 100 feet away to the south following a rebar stake trail. Though not confirmed, the Patricia may possibly have been the tug North Harbor, official number 210681, which was built in 1912 by Great Lakes Towing Company in Cleveland, Ohio. TheNorth Harbor was 68.6 feet long, 17 feet wide, and originally displaced 73 tons gross. In 1966, the tug was renamed Patricia while owned by Bay State Tow Boat Company, Incorporated of Everett, Massachusetts. Records indicate this tug was abandoned in 1975.
