The Tracor Dry Dock was originally built in 1944 at Eureka, California by the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company for the US. Navy. Tracor Marine, Incorporated eventually acquired the non‐propelled floating dry dock, which was 288 feet long, 64 feet wide, and 1,200 tons displacement. On June 22, 1982, the obsolete dry dock was scuttled in 225 feet of water off Port Everglades. The wreck sits upright, and rises over 40 feet from the bottom. Significant material can be found to the north of the wreck, including several Chris Craft hull molds, two 100‐foot barges from Powell Brothers, Incorporated, which were sunk in may 1982.  One of them landed of the dry dock with one end in the sand, which formed an interesting swim‐through similar to the one offered by the wrecks of the Corey N Chris and Ronald B. Johnson.
